Collection: Sacred Heart

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a symbol of God's boundless and passionate love for mankind, quite literally a devotion to the heart of God, wounded in the crucifixion.

The popularisation of devotion to the Sacred Heart is derived from a nun in France, Margaret Mary Alacoque, who learned the devotion from Jesus during a series of apparitions to her between 1673 and 1675.

The Sacred Heart is depicted in art as a heart surrounded by flames, pierced by the spear, encircled by a crown of thorns, and surmounted by a cross.
